Choosing to replace current windows in your property is a great way of improving the visual appearance of your home both inside and out. However, if you want to ensure your home’s value increases as a result, it’s important to choose your windows and doors carefully.
The Right Type of Window
The first thing you should do is find a window style that matches the look of your property, and perhaps even enhances its current features. For example, some of the newest window styles can make a huge impact when added to older properties - perhaps even looking out of place. Try looking around at other properties like yours to see the difference newer windows have made to the way they look.
You should also bear in mind how many openings you’d like in your new windows. If you’re looking to reduce the initial cost then fewer openings can help. However, double glazing is a long term investment. Windows with more openings can increase the resale value of your property substantially.
Choosing the right look and style can really make the difference between those extra thousands when it comes time to sell your home. It’s important to get it done right, since poorly-designed windows could even reduce the value of your property.
The great news is that our products are designed to suit all types of building, and there’s no need to worry about planning permission - we’ll sort everything out for you to ensure your new windows are installed without any stress.

As winter quickly approaches, now is the right time to take a look at your windows and see what can be done to greater improve their energy-efficiency. Here are five tips to help keep your home warmer for less:
1. Make sure that none of your windows, doors or your roof have cracks holes or areas where heat can escape. If they do, make an effort to get them repaired before the coldest weather hits.
2. Benefit from the sun’s natural heat as much as possible. This means keeping the curtains and blinds open on bright sunny days. Prune any trees that could potentially block the path of the sun into your home, and make sure to take any awnings down before it starts getting colder.
3. Keep the windows closed during cold weather. However, you should try to air out your home every once in a while to stop the build-up of pollution and toxins.
4. Replace standard windows with double glazing. The layer of air in the window helps to insulate your home, keeping the heat inside and stopping potential heat loss. But don’t forget your doors – these can also be replaced to improve the energy-efficiency of your home.
5. When you have the heating on in the evenings, make sure that all the curtains are closed to keep heat inside the room. Also try to make sure that curtains never cover the radiator, blocking out the heat.
Taking simple measures like these can help to reduce your heating bills dramatically each winter!

New proposals from the Government mean that stamp duty and council tax could be increased for homes that aren’t energy efficient. These measures could come into force as quickly as this autumn.
This means homeowners will need to focus on insulation and double glazing before selling their property.
Energy efficiency ratings have been in place since October last year, ranking from A to G. All of these reports contain recommendations to help save money and to reduce carbon emissions.
Government plans suggest that it will become illegal to put homes up for sale with a grade of E or lower, from 2015.
New government proposals are facing criticism for those who say it’s just a way for the government to get more money from homeowners.
However, the Energy Savings Trust has stated that, which energy prices so high, it should still be important to have an energy efficient home whether these government measures are in place or not.
Measures to make your home more energy efficient include insulting lofts and walls and installing double glazing.
Double glazing can help to keep homes warmer during colder months, reducing energy bills every year. It can also help to keep the home more secure and prevent excessive noise.
If the new government plans come into effect, these measures will need to be taken in order to improve energy efficiency and sell homes.
