Blog Many home owners are unaware that the creeks and noises that they hear are from their boiler; instead they actually believe that they have a ghost haunting their homes. In fact 13% of home owners actually believe that their home is haunted but experts are advising that some simple DIY could make the noise disappear. The noise that people hear can be caused by a number of factors such as a faulty boiler or can come from other areas of the house such as their real wood flooring creaking.
Birds nesting in the loft are also listed as a potential ghost like noise disturbance so it is important to rule these out before you decide that you have some paranormal activity invading your property. In some cases you may have to replace your boiler which may be a financial hindrance for some people however doing so has many long term benefits such as protecting your family. Do not take the risk of leaving your home with a faulty boiler or delaying footing the bill in the hope that you might just have a ghost; it is a cost you will not regret paying.

Blog A great deal of people were subject to hefty repair costs last winter as damaged roofs, frozen pipes and falling gutter were top of the list of things to fix once the cold snap was over. You must also keep in mind that you may affect your insurance payments therefore before its gets too cold you must make sure that you take the appropriate measures to maintain your home before damage takes force. It is a good time to step back and look at your property, if you are unsure of what to look for ask a professional or someone that you trust to highlight areas that require work.
Remember to look externally and internally at the property in order to gain a full picture. Unclog gutters, make sure your front and back doors are stable and in working in, check your windows and if you do not already have them consider fitting double glazed windows as they are strong and keep the heat locked in, look for any cracks that can let drafts in and get a professional to assess your roof. You may be shy of the costs now but they will only get greater if something goes wrong.

Blog Many landlords have more than one property to look after and it can be a real headache trying to maintain them however it is important that take the appropriate measures otherwise there could be some tough consequences heading your way. A Norwich based company paid a hefty price of a £15, 000 fines for not adequately heating the properties owned. Each flat owned faced a charge of £5,000 as they were deemed unfit for residents to live in.
It is important that landlords look after their properties and residents otherwise they may also be subject to a fine or in some cases even prosecution. Many landlords worry about the cost of making home improvements however fitting insulation and double glazing is a great way to keep costs down, and ensure that a property locks in as much as possible. Blog I realise it may not be quite as festive as Christmas or as exciting as getting a chocolate egg on Easter but from the 25th October to the 31st October it is in fact ‘Energy Saving Week!’. This holiday is designed to help companies and also consumers to reduce their carbon footprints and save money on their utility bills. Many people will be happy to know that they could save money if they follow some energy saving tips which I am sure we can all agree that at Christmas this is very handy. Loft insulation and double glazing are top of the bills of ‘to do’s’.
Double glazing is a great way to save on your bills and keep your home toasty when the winter chill takes full force, your property will also look good as new. Making sure that you close your windows on leaving your property, turning off electrical appliances and turning thermostats down by a degree are all encouraged by the event. The event is a great way to remind people of their responsibility to their property and give people the nudge they need to do something to help the environment this Christmas!

Blog The temperature has dropped this week and I am sure we are all feeling the cold nip. It is not much fun having to step outside into the freezing weather or battling the rain with a broken umbrella therefore when we do get to enjoy the indoors it’s important we have somewhere warm and relaxing to enjoy. There is a lot of stress surrounding many homes at Christmas, people feel the need to find the perfect present and get their homes looking its best before the part season kicks off. Many of us will have family and friends over for drinks; nibbles and even some dancing to celebrate the turning of a new year however are on a tight budget.
The good news is it can be relatively simple to rejuvenate your property; a lick of paint is the best way to do so. A blank canvas looks fresh and at Christmas you can lift any rooms with some tasteful festive decoration. If you do not have them already invest in some double glazed windows, they will upgrade your home in an instant and make it look a lot fresher. No need to go mad on home improvement, there are plenty you can do to make it a perfect Christmas.
