Avoid Getting Into Debt Over Energy Bills

Posted under Blog by Ruth

Recent research carried out by uSwitch has shown that a third of all Britons are risking going into debt simply because they don’t make checks to ensure the accuracy of energy bills, and are paying more than they have to.

Energy costs are higher than they were this time last summer, and many customers are not correctly setting aside enough money each month.

Latest news also suggests that major energy suppliers are failing to pass on wholesale price cuts to the consumer.

However, there is still hope and more that can be done to reduce the cost of energy bills. uSwitch recommends that customers take more time to understand what affects energy bills, including how to correctly calculate them and methods that may help to keep costs down.

Simply making improvements to the home can help to increase energy efficiency, therefore keeping the home heated at a smaller cost. And two of the biggest areas in which heat is lost are through windows and doors.

Consumers are urged to look to double glazing companies and make changes to their energy efficiency. Double glazing requires an upfront cost to install, but surveys have shown that energy costs can be cut by up to £100 every year in the long-term.

Recent surveys have also shown that the main reason for choosing double glazed windows is to reduce energy bills.
