Fire safety is essential for home owners

Many people are getting carried away with the hope of a sunny summer and making some great home improvements in order to make for a fun season. BBQ’s, pool parties and sunbathing are amongst the top priorities of many people however experts are urging people to consider fire safety for the sake of their family and friends.

When you decide to convert your loft or add an extension onto your home you must make sure you adhere to the Planning Building regulations in place in order to prevent fires. If you are lucky enough to have a large home over three storeys then you will need to ensure that there are fire doors on each floor.

People must also be careful not to cover any fire escapes in their property or shield fire extinguishers as this can be extremely hazardous. Regulations are in place to ensure that if a fire was to occur then those inside the property or indeed on the surrounding area will be as protected as possible in the event of a fire starting therefore it is vital that the exits are in place and the building is as secure possible.
