Remember to heat and ventilate unused living space

Posted under Blog by Khalid

Many people like to buy a property with an extra room for guests to stay in, for when the time comes to have children or for simply storing all their extra bits and bobs in. A spare room is an ideal place to hide anything that you do not want in full view and is perfect for people who like to hoard lots of items or having regular visitors to their home. Many people however make the mistake of turning all the radiators off in the spare room in order to save money on their electricity or energy bills however this can often do more harm than good to a property.

Experts often advise that a room should be kept to a temperature of around ten degrees Celsius in order to prevent mould forming on furniture. It is also advised that you may wish to leave a window open in order to improve ventilation in a spare room. You may spend more on your energy bills however it will be worth it as getting rid of condensation which often leads to mould can be pesky and often costly in the long run.
