Remove old paint before you start your next DIY job
Posted under Blog by KhalidMany people are keen to get on to their next DIY project, whether its hanging a new shelf or popping on a new lick of paint change often feels nice and rejuvenates a property. Many people like to cut corners especially when they are doing the work themselves however in some cases this is a mistake as you can end up with work that does not look how it should, you may end up spending more money fixing any problems and it can also be very time consuming in the long run.
When it comes to electrical work or plumbing you must hire a professional for healthy and safety reasons however when it comes to simpler tasks such as repainting wooden furniture there are easy steps you can take in order to gain the desired effect. You must make sure that you remove the old paint from the wood as if you do not you may end up with a patchy finish and it may chip off a lot easier. You can do this by using sandpaper or wire wool in order to get rid of the old paint. If the wood has been painted over many times before then use a hot-gun to strip it down to the bare wood.
