Technology Analyses Energy Efficiency of the Major Party Leaders’ Homes
Posted under Blog by Ruth
Experts have recently made use of infrared technology to analyse just how energy efficient the homes of our major party leaders are.
The results came a surprise to many, where the boss of the Green Party, Caroline Lucas, came up badly – her rented office wastes around twice as much energy as an average family home.
However, the party have stated that the rented office is only a small part of a building. Since the reports were made, the whole building has now been improved with double glazing, improving energy efficiency.
The executive of the company who took the tests, Stewart Little, stated that ‘it’s great to see that they are taking action to be as green as possible’.
However, the results of the infrared technology has shown that most leaders do not practice what they preach.
Leader of the Liberal Democrat, Nick Clegg, also appeared to be wasteful, followed next by the office of Tory leader David Cameron.
The Energy Secretary of Labour, Ed Miliband, came out with the best insulated place of work. Gordon Brown’s office was not surveyed due to security issues around Number 10.
Spokesperson of the Green Party, Darren Johnson, stated that these results help to highlight the issues that are faced by most British families and businesses when it comes to cutting carbon emissions and energy bill prices.
The Green Party are calling for a nationwide program that will work on increasing the energy efficiency of all homes, emphasising the fact that ‘energy efficiency pays for itself over time’.
